Rules of 757 Labs

This is a working draft, expect to see minor modifications overtime as situations arise.

BE CAREFUL

Some of the tools and chemicals in the lab can be dangerous. Exercise caution when dealing with them. YOU AGREE NOT TO HOLD 757Labs OR ANY MEMBERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR PERSONAL OR PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY IMPROPER USE OF TOOLS OR MATERIALS WITHIN THE LAB OR ACCIDENTAL INJURY (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO SLIPPING AND FALLING).

CLEAN UP

Clean up after yourself. Do not leave work areas messy when leaving. Projects are to be put away at the end of the day. Exceptions may be made for projects that are difficult to put into storage or taken home if a reasonable timeline for completion can be given and accommodations can be made.

PROPERTY

Personal property left at the lab falls into one of three categories and needs to be clearly marked as to which category it is meant to be a part of (any unmarked items will be assumed to be donations and as such lab property). The categories are:

1. Personal Property

You own it, you don't want anyone using it without your permission. Keep these items to a minimum, mark them carefully, and keep them in a safe place. KEEPING THESE ITEMS OUT OF HARMS WAY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

2. Loaners

You are willing to let lab members use these items in your absence but are not donating them to the lab permanently. YOU ABSOLVE THE LAB OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY SHOULD THESE ITEMS BECOME DAMAGED.

3. Donations

These items become property of the lab and as such are free for any members to use. THE LAB WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY ITEMS.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

If you make it it's yours. If you make it with other members, figure it out between yourselves. The lab is not looking to claim ownership of any projects or ideas brought to or created in the lab.

MEMBERSHIP

The Lab is a private space in which members pay monthly dues to help cover the costs of having the space. We want to know the people that are given 24x7 access to the space. It's a great resource, we don't want to loose it. Membership to the core group is quasi-invite only. If you're interested in joining, come get to know us. We have a bunch of public events like Hack Nights and provide space for a couple of other groups. Come and learn, share what you're working on, and meet other members. If we know you, don't hesitate to ask. Also, please see the membership topic here on the wiki.

GUESTS

While the lab is meant to be a members only organization we still encourage people interested in the space to show up, especially during events. Guests are the responsibility of the member who brought them; please make sure they follow the rules as though they were a member. While there is no specific limit to how often guests can visit the lab we do ask that members not use this as a means to circumvent membership dues as this only serves to hurt the lab in the long run; if other members feel that this is the case we may ask guests to become members or limit their activities in the Lab. Guests are not permitted to use the Lab's tools.

NOISE

During business hours during the day (Monday to Friday 6AM to 6PM) please do not turn up the audio system loud. It can be heard outside of our space. We'd prefer the space not become a constant band practice space or anything like that, as it gets away from the core goals of the lab. But, we realize that members of the lab may be building, inventing or repairing musical equipment, software, and hardware. Be respectful of other members at the lab space, other building occupants and the general public.

SUBSTANCES

No smoking or drinking in the lab. No dangerous substances in the lab without all proper guidelines and laws followed.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Boils down to using common sense and "if you don't know ask."
