I was up in DC on Saturday seeing Bad Religion play live on the mall and
hitting up the Smithsonian. It's odd seeing a ColecoVision in a display
case and Secret of Monkey Island in an exhibit. So odd.
Anyways, atgeek noticed these monster projector housings that were aimed
at one of the smithsonian buildings. His girlfriend noticed the ad in the
display case for the exhibit. We came back by at sunset for the show.
They've got 11 baller projectors in outdoor housings shooting a video 360
degrees around this round building that has few windows. The video was
some artschool thing that didn't really capture us at all. Maybe there is
a part that is better, maybe the video is 6 hours long. Who knows.
But here is my video of their video:
It was a drizzly day so there is water dripping at the top.

That was only a brief period of high contrasty fun stuff that we saw. My
understanding is it's a bunch of covers of a song from the 30s.
Neat stuff though.
Rough guess is that each projector might have cost $100,000 when said and
done. Housing is made by a company called Tempest. Probably Christie or
Barco projectors. LCD panels on the back of each housing showing status
with some accessable pushbuttons.
