Plus one for me on this.  Should we get together at the labs one night?  A
distributed computing project could shape up to be a great innovative
entry.  I also had an idea for a remote KVM protocol that would enable
efficient packet transmission to "cloud" computers.  Still trying to figure
out the entrepreneur/business angle.
