Have you been to local hamfests? They are generally a few dealers that do
hamfests all the time, mixed with a few one offs from locals. I've never
been to the bigger ones, but I understand that for some reason Hampton
Roads has never had strong Hamfests like other areas.
I see it getting better, with the return of the Virginia Beach hamfest to
the pavillion. Also there are a few others I didn't know about. I got a
table at the Richmond Frostfest once, and had a table at another local one
that was at some community club place. I never made it to the last
VBHamfest even though I bought a table/power for the lab due to car issue.
I can't really say the hamfests have had much of a return, other than
meeting Scott Dorsey in person! Still, I always want to support them.
