Angus,

Sure, printing it later today and it will be ready by tomorrow here at the
lab (or do you need me to mail it out to Detroit for you).

The makerbot is a slightly expensive hobby machine. The goal is to make this
available for use by those who want to engage and participate at whatever
level they wish in the lab.

The plan for this will be:

1. Setup a class for anyone interested to take, to review usage, safety,
etc... Take the class and you are good to go on using it.
2. There is a graphics machine next to it (currently with the dual monitors)
that is getting all the necessary design software, ReplicatorG, Skeinforge
settings, and dialed in so you can just sit down and start using it to print
from.

There is wear and tear on the machine and we expect this will need to be
fixed, modified and updated as new open source options and upgrades are
available. To do this, it costs $, not a huge amount but enough to think
about. Right now it has the Generation 4 electronics and MK6+ extruder head
(for those interested). Right now we have two 5lb rolls just being opened of
natural white ABS and Blue ABS available. We are printing using ABS 3mm
plastic and for those generous donors out there who want to expand the
current palette of color material, if you order some make sure that the
thickness is under 3mm, ex. 2.95mm. The plastic at
http://store.makerbot.com/plastic.html is slightly expensive but it is top
quality, the size if QA controlled and we are going to start using the spool
reels on a holder in the near future. :)

The topic of price to print is one that has not been worked out yet. It is
most likely that it will be a donation system to help keep the machine
upgraded, running and a good selection of material available.

I will be working on the graphics machine this week. Next week I am gone but
the following week/end we should be ready to start with the first
class/session. If you need something on the small side printed out this week
(meaning less than an hour of print time) let me know and I can go ahead and
run it for you as I am calibrating the graphics machine. If I missed
anything just let me know.

Cheers,
Beau
