Sparkfun has an MPR121 powered capacitive touch sensor breakout board
that will prolly do what you want, depending on how many locations
need to be sensed. No reason this couldn't be hooked up to an Arduino.
In fact, the sample code is for a ATmega328 chip.
I've worked with resistive screens, but the iphone screens are
capactive and are not nearly as straight forward.
