Here are another couple takes on the idea:

It's an extension on the symbolic lit lightbulb representing a new idea. In this case, the lightbulb has been upgraded to an LED.
As per Geoff's request, the weight on the diode is less than the surrounding text.
I'm not terribly experienced with Inkscape, so if anyone has ideas (or better fonts!) in mind, let me know. I'll post my SVG if there's interest.
