That is FASCINATING! Having gone down that path, (don't tell him), but 
it's kind of a fail path.

That drives 8 channels, and could prob be scaled out pretty easily.

And allows full dimming, full solid state. Ditch the DIP switch bank that 
allows address config and you've got 8 more channels right there.

There are other dmx dimmer schematics out there.

When we did Christmas lights, we drove triacs the 2nd time around but 
without dimming capability.
